Trusted diagnostics for every well

Stewart Well Logging Service delivers complete well diagnostics including logging, video, analysis, and verification so drilling contractors can make confident decisions before setting screens or moving the rig. Our goal is to give you a clear picture of the well before you commit to construction, rehab, or abandonment. Every job is approached as if it were our own water source, with careful attention to data quality and clear communication in the field.

Run by an experienced driller, not a lab

Owner‑operator Ronnie Stewart has over 28 years in water well drilling and geophysical surveying, bringing real rig‑side experience to every job instead of purely theoretical analysis. He has supervised drilling crews, operated rigs, and handled complex projects for private, commercial, and municipal wells. That background means he understands your challenges on site and can offer practical recommendations that work in the real world, not just on paper.

Built around your drilling schedule

We coordinate directly with your field crews to time logging and inspections between drilling stages, reducing downtime and keeping your rigs turning instead of waiting on data. Jobs are scheduled with clear arrival windows and realistic estimates of time on site, so your crew can plan their day. When conditions change in the field, we stay flexible and adjust to keep the project moving forward.

Compliance ready reports and documentation

Each project comes with clear, regulator ready logs, video, and written reports that document construction, support permit requirements, and reduce risk for both contractors and their clients. We organize deliverables so they are easy to submit to agencies or share with engineers, including depth‑referenced notes and concise summaries of key findings. This level of documentation helps protect you from disputes later and demonstrates that the well was evaluated and constructed with care.

What’s included in a geophysical logging visit

Every logging job is run rig‑side by owner‑operator Ronnie Stewart, with the goal of giving your crew clear answers before you commit to casing, screens, or seals. A typical visit includes:

  • Downhole electric logs (e‑logs) run through the full depth of the borehole

  • Formation profiling to identify producing zones, clays, and problem intervals

  • Depth‑referenced data your crew can act on before the rig moves

  • On‑site discussion of recommended screen intervals while the hole is still open

Logging can be combined with well video inspection, formation analysis, and construction verification in a single mobilization, so you get a complete picture of the well in one visit.

When to schedule logging

Most contractors schedule logging as soon as the borehole reaches target depth and before casing and screens are set — that’s when downhole data can still change the design. Logging is also valuable on existing wells when planning rehabilitation, troubleshooting production problems, or documenting conditions for owners and agencies. We serve drilling contractors throughout California and take on select projects in neighboring states.

What you receive

You get clean, depth‑referenced logs, clear screen‑interval recommendations, and documentation formatted to support DWR well completion reports, engineering review, and permit files. Ronnie walks your crew through the results on site, so decisions don’t have to wait for a report to arrive.

Geophysical well logging FAQs

How long does logging take?

Most wells are logged in a single visit, and results are discussed rig‑side the same day. Exact time on site depends on depth and site conditions, and we confirm a realistic window when you book.

Does the borehole need to be open to run e‑logs?

Yes — electric logs read the formation itself, so they need to be run before casing is installed. If your well is already cased, a video inspection is usually the right tool instead.

Can logging really change how I set screens?

That’s the main reason contractors book it. Logs show where the productive zones and clays actually are, so screens go where the water is instead of where the cuttings suggested.

Do you travel outside of California?

Our home base is California and most of our work is here, but we take on projects in neighboring states case by case. Call with your location and we’ll confirm.
